S. cerevisiae sp. boulardii helps prevent pathogens from entering the bloodstream and creates a favorable environment for microorganisms (e.g., lactic acid bacteria). BIOLATTE boulardii has shown good results in Finland for over 15 years. The patented production method provides the product with a three-year stability at room temperature. The product is safe even for long-term consumption. The product is suitable for use during disease periods, including for babies to relieve digestive and gas problems.
This is not food yeast. Does not promote the growth of pathogenic yeast. Also suitable for those who suffer from yeast allergies, as it is not regular (food) yeast. Free from casein, lactose, yeast, and gluten.
S. boulardii has been used as a probiotic in Europe since the 1950s and clinical studies with S. boulardii have been conducted numerous times worldwide. Safety information gathered from these studies has established a significant safety profile for S. boulardii. Analysis of safety data from 2963 patients revealed that the only side effects related to S. boulardii were thirst (in 5 patients) and constipation (in 8 patients).
In numerous efficacy studies, it has been shown that the consumption of S. boulardii did not cause side effects, even when taken for six consecutive months. S. boulardii has also been given to AIDS patients without any serious side effects.
Clinical efficacy of S. boulardii
- Antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD): The efficacy of S. boulardii in preventing AAD has been proven in numerous studies.
- Clostridium difficile infection (CDI): Combining S. boulardii with standard treatment significantly reduces the recurrence of CDI.
- Acute and persistent diarrhea: S. boulardii is highly effective in treating diarrhea of various causes in adults and significantly reduces the duration of acute diarrhea in children. S. boulardii has also proven to be effective in persistent diarrhea in children.
- Helicobacter pylori infection: S. boulardii improves tolerance to the standard triple therapy against H. pylori, reducing side effects such as diarrhea, upper abdominal discomfort, and post-treatment dyspepsia.
- Crohn’s disease: In addition to alleviating diarrhea, S. boulardii positively affects clinical parameters such as lower abdominal pain, general well-being, hematocrit levels, etc. Adding S. boulardii to standard treatment significantly reduces relapse in Crohn’s disease (6.25% vs 37.5%).
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): The consumption of S. boulardii can improve the outcomes of IBS treatment and the quality of life of IBS patients.
- Parasitic infections like Giardia lamblia: In addition to treating diarrhea, S. boulardii helps eliminate Giardia cysts.
- HIV-related diarrhea: In a study conducted in France with 4th stage AIDS patients, diarrhea resolved in 61% of patients consuming S. boulardii, compared to only 12% receiving placebo. S. boulardii was well tolerated by all patients even at high doses (3g daily).
